Cielos Mexican Grill - A review

The hottest new thing to hit the streets of Bangor is the Cielos Mexican Grill on wheels!

This lime green truck opens up shop for a few hours a day for lunch and ususally sells out of everything before they close up. Foodies, workers on their lunch break, Mexican food fanatics and everyone in between can safely say this truck is cooking up some delicious grub.

The twist: A German lady, cooking Mexican food, in America. Only in the U.S.A!

Kirsten Pilot and her husband Chris started the food truck and opened for business about 2 weeks ago.

"I always got fresh, affordable food from food trucks in New York City and that's when the idea was born. I wanted to work, I always wanted to be self-employed and I have a great passion for Mexican food," explained Pilot. "Plus, everyone is still alive when I cook, which is good." -Maine Edge writer Jodi Hersey

They were slammed the day I stopped by the truck to try some tacos. The best part of the whole experience was watching Kirsten engage the crowd and remain so cool despite the growing lines that seemed like they might never end. She kept upbeat and positive with a smile planted on her face, and worked hard to pump out lunch for everyone in a timely manner. She looked like she was having one of the best times of her life and when I told her not to work too hard she replied by saying, "It keeps me young!"

The menu is small and to the point. First pick your shell; soft or hard, or get a burrito, salad or bowl. Then choose chicken, steak, beef or veggie. Next is the best part: fill her up! Choose from 1 of 3 different homemade salsas, corn, beans, peppers, cheese, sour cream, and for a tiny bit extra you can have homemade guacamole.

I love the see things like this thrive. I'm sure everyone, especially people on their lunch breaks, will appreciate the fact that the McDonald's drive thru isn't the only lunch option anymore. With natural ingredients, you won't feel sluggish or weighed down. It's a healthy meal that will keep you full and content.

I encourage everyone to stop by the truck and find your new favorite. You probably won't want taco bell ever again. To find the truck, visit the website's schedule to find out where they will be parked next!
